About the Winemaker
"My passion for winemaking comes from the same place as my passion for life, cuisine and music. To me, winemaking is far more than a process — it is a craft shaped by dedication, lifestyle, climate, soil and vine. Each of these elements plays a part in creating wines that are not only enjoyable to drink, but memorable to experience.
The wines I create are boutique and handcrafted, made with care and character. I have always aimed to move away from the more common styles often produced on a larger scale, instead focusing on wines that feel individual, expressive and full of personality.
For me, wine should be an experience — much like attending an opera or enjoying an exceptional meal. A great wine should offer richness in texture, depth in colour and complexity in flavour. When these elements come together, they create something that delights the palate and leaves you wanting to return for more.
The joy I find in winemaking comes from the entire journey, from vineyard to bottle. But the most rewarding part of all is knowing that the person enjoying the wine has experienced that same sense of pleasure. When that happens, I feel I have achieved what I set out to do.
As a child of the 1950s, born to Italian migrants who settled in the Yarra Valley, I was raised with a deep respect for the land, the climate and the many factors that can influence what the earth produces. From an early age, I came to understand how much care, patience and intuition are required to work with the land successfully.
As I grew older, I knew I wanted to do something meaningful with both the land and my life, and that path naturally led me to winemaking.
Surrounded by great friends already in the wine industry, my family and I went on to establish a small, family-owned winery in the Victorian Yarra Valley — Yarra Vale Winery.
Today, Yarra Vale remains a reflection of that passion, heritage and commitment to creating wines of character and quality. I truly hope you enjoy drinking Yarra Vale wines as much as I enjoy making them.

For Domenic Bucci, wine has never simply been something poured into a glass. It has always been part of family, tradition, togetherness and love.
Born to Italian migrants and raised with a deep appreciation for the land, Domenic grew up understanding that wine belongs at the heart of life’s most meaningful moments. Around the table, with food, music, laughter and conversation, wine becomes more than a drink — it becomes a way of bringing people together.
Family is Domenic’s world. From his devoted wife of almost 60 years, Lena Bucci, to his two beautiful daughters, family has always been the centre of everything he does. Yarra Vale Wines is an extension of that love — a reflection of the warmth, loyalty, pride and closeness that has shaped his life.
Over the years, wine has been present through every chapter of the Bucci family story. It has been shared at birthdays, engagements, weddings, anniversaries, Sunday lunches, Christmas tables, quiet dinners, long conversations, celebrations, farewells and moments of reflection. It has marked milestones, softened sorrow, honored tradition and helped create memories that stay with us forever.
That is the true spirit of Yarra Vale.
Domenic created Yarra Vale Wines with his family crest proudly displayed on every bottle — a symbol of heritage, belonging and the values behind the wine. It represents more than a name. It represents family, connection and the belief that the best moments in life are the ones we share with the people we love.
To Domenic, wine is about closeness. It is about sitting around a table a little longer, raising a glass to someone special, remembering those who came before us, celebrating those beside us and creating moments that will be spoken about for years to come.
